Cutting from a newspaper (didnt save the explanation, note to myself reference everything) Masking fluid was used to create the ‘mesh’ of gold.

Gold wax crayon was used for the background.

This was ‘translated’ into stitch. I didnt feel that it needed to be an exact copy, as trying to copy didnt respond to stitch particularly well. Overall the effect was pleasing.

 

A Study of Witch Balls (used to ward away evil in Victorian era)

Initially a drawing was made of the witch ball, reminds me of a raven.

This was transferred to stitch using chain, straight and French knots.
