Project Two Stage 5 Stitches which create textures


For this exercise I used an Aubrey Beardsley illustration Merlin Taketh the Child as inspiration. I found this to be full of ideas everywhere you looked. The black and white made me see beyond the parameters.

Taking part of the picture I adapted it for further use. (below)


In my sketchbook I produced the drawing below, using various techniques, stencilling, rubbing and drawing.


Using the leaf part of the drawing this was used for the textile piece below. The wool used was chenille and lent itself to the leafy texture.  It was better than I had thought it would turn out.


This was a little difficult and slow to complete this task. But once I began, it took a different
