Stage 6 Combining textures and colour effects

Black velvet was used for the background in this exercise. I used French Knots with various thicknesses of thread. The threads were primary colours red, yellow, green and blue. The results of this made a very interesting texture on the fabric. The colours were complimentary and something I will definitely use in the future.

The pastels were also created interesting surface design. The effect produced during both of these exercises were effective in showing a simple idea into a stunning ‘picture’.

Using machine embroidery over soluble fabric produced a lacy effect. It as important to overlay the stitches. The first attempt was too loose and didn’t hold together. I was pleased with the outcome.
